Quick Start Guide

Get your LanternOps platform configured and delivering value in 15 minutes.

Step 1: Set Up Your Service Catalog (5 minutes)

Define what services you offer to customers.

  1. In the sidebar, click Service Catalog (under Administration)
  2. Click the Add Service button
  3. Create your first service:

Example: Complete Asset Management

Name: Complete Asset Management
Category: Monitoring
Pricing: $3 per endpoint/month
Description: Automated asset discovery and tracking via NinjaOne
Features:
- Real-time endpoint inventory
- Hardware lifecycle management
- Warranty expiration alerts
- Compliance evidence collection
Maps to Controls:
- CIS 1.1, 1.2, 1.5
- NIST ID.AM-1, ID.AM-2
- CMMC AC.1.001
  1. Add 3-5 of your core services
  2. Click Save

Step 2: Connect Your First Integration (5 minutes)

Section titled “Step 2: Connect Your First Integration (5 minutes)”

Connect your RMM or PSA tool to start collecting evidence automatically.

  1. In the sidebar, click Integrations (under Operations)
  2. Click Add Integration button
  3. Select your platform (e.g., NinjaOne)
  4. Enter API credentials
  5. Click Test Connection
  6. Enable Auto-Sync (syncs every 1-12 hours depending on integration)

  • NinjaOne - Asset management, patch status
  • Huntress - EDR threats, endpoint protection
  • Microsoft 365 - User counts, email security, Teams/Exchange
  • ConnectWise - Ticketing, time tracking

  • Syncro - Asset tracking, ticketing
  • Autotask PSA - Service delivery, customer management
  • HaloPSA - Ticket tracking, service desk
  • Pax8 - Subscription management, licensing

  • PowerDMARC - Email authentication

Step 3: Select Compliance Framework (2 minutes)

Choose which compliance standards matter to your customers.

  1. In the sidebar, expand Compliance (under Operations) and click Plan Compliance

  2. Review available frameworks:

    • CIS Controls v8.1 (149 controls - general cybersecurity)
    • NIST CSF 2.0 (103 controls - enterprise risk)
    • CMMC Level 2 (110 controls - DoD contractors)
    • HIPAA Security Rule (63 controls - healthcare)
    • SOC 2 (52 controls - SaaS/service providers)
    • PCI DSS v4.0 (141 controls - payment processing)
  3. Enable the frameworks relevant to your customers

  4. Click Save to activate

The system will automatically:

  • Map your services to framework controls
  • Start collecting evidence from integrations
  • Enable compliance dashboards

Step 4: Generate Your First Value Report (3 minutes)

Section titled “Step 4: Generate Your First Value Report (3 minutes)”

Show a customer what they’re paying for.

  1. In the sidebar, click All Customers (under Customers)
  2. Select a customer from the list
  3. Click the Business Impact Dashboard tab
  4. Review the automatically generated metrics:

You’ll see:

  • ✅ Compliance controls satisfied (e.g., “32 of 149 CIS controls”)
  • ✅ Services delivering value
  • ✅ Evidence collected (e.g., “147 endpoints tracked”)
  • ✅ Revenue opportunities identified
  1. Click Share with Customer to send them their portal access link

After these 4 steps, you’ll have:

  • Automatic control-to-service mapping
  • Real-time evidence collection
  • Audit-ready documentation
  • Show what they’re paying for
  • Real-time compliance status
  • Business impact metrics
  • Automated gap detection with technical evidence
  • Ready-to-send sales pitches

  • Add remaining services to catalog
  • Connect all your integrations
  • Enable all relevant frameworks
  • Generate first audit package
  • Review revenue opportunities for 3 customers
  • Share business impact dashboards
  • Refine service catalog based on feedback
  • Act on revenue opportunities
  • Use in QBRs to prove value
